Election Day BBQ 2017

The local community voted last weekend, the ballot papers have been counted and the resounding winner is: STANMORE PUBLIC SCHOOL

With the sun smiling down, our Election Day Barbecue was a huge success raising the $5,000 we needed to fund sports equipment for the kids. In total the school made a profit of just under $6,200. Students entertained the voters with their busking talents, and the barbecue offerings and parent-baked sweets satisfied hunger and sweet cravings all day. Students also sold treats produced by our school kitchen raising an additional $145 for the kitchen program.

The best part of the day was seeing all the kids running around, people hanging out, enjoying their democracy sausage and having a chat. It was a great reminder that these events mean so much more than raising money for the school – it's being part of a great local community that makes these days so worthwhile.

Thanks to Lara, Jackie and Melissa for organising the event and all the many volunteers who helped on the day. Whether you sizzled a sausage, baked some of the amazing fare on offer at the cake stall or served the masses, we couldn't have done it without you. Thanks also to Madi and TASK for putting on free face painting for the kids.
